Applying for roles internally: IAP and AAP

We have had a number of questions recently regarding our staff and applying for recently advertised IAP and AAP roles. 

Initially, staff were precluded from applying for these positions whilst an internal pathway was being developed. 

It has taken some time to develop the pathway because we needed to write to relevant groups of staff about expressions of interest in order to understand the potential demand for places and subsequent abstractions. Because of this delay, we know some staff feel they are now being disadvantaged in comparison to external applicants.  

Therefore with immediate effect, staff are eligible to apply for externally advertised posts (subject to meeting the criteria). We are finalising the internal pathways for HCRT and PTS staff and will communicate the process for staff to access these shortly.  We will also include information about HCRT to IAP or AAP,  ECA/IAP to EMT/AAP and EMT/AAP to Paramedic in this communication. 

We are really pleased to have a clear clinical career framework and appreciate that our people want to develop and progress. We will endeavour to manage this as effectively as possible whilst balancing the need to maintain service delivery and ensure patient safety.
