September is Preparedness Month! Following on from Darya's Leadership Message last week, be prepared, not scared and find out how to boost your resilience in 30 ways with the #30days30waysUK national campaign

Emergency Preparedness concerns us all. However, when people talk about emergencies, we often think of recent tragic events, such as the attacks on London and Manchester, recent UK storms and flooding, the Nepal earthquake, the Indonesian tsunami or other global disasters.

Being prepared is not just for those head-line grabbing incidents; power cuts, water main bursts, gas leaks, fires, transport strikes, road closures etc. can happen any day. That's why business continuity planning is so important and should be a Trust wide activity, with every employee responsible for ensuring that we can continue to deliver our services to our patients, during any type of disruption.

Taking proactive steps to be better prepared will help us, not only with everyday emergencies, but also with far less likely incidents.
