BBC to screen lorry deaths documentary

This week, BBC2 will be screening a documentary about the tragedy of the Essex lorry deaths in 2019.

Hunting the Essex Lorry Killers will air on BBC2 at 9pm on Wednesday 13 October and tells the story of the investigation and court case which followed the deaths of 39 Vietnamese migrants in October 2019.

There will be a second, spin-off trial at the Old Bailey in June 2022, so the programme will focus on the events of the 22 and 23 October 2019 to avoid any potential prejudice.

We know this tragedy impacted on some of our staff, and we would advise that staff affected by the incident use their discretion in deciding whether or not to view the documentary.

If you need extra support before – or after – the airing of the documentary, please access our wellbeing support on Need to Know or contact our 24-hour ‘In-Crisis’ telephone support line on 0808 196 2370
