Following Andrew Selous’ visit to the Trust in October, the Bedfordshire MP has now completed his community first responder (CFR) training, alongside 18 fellow new volunteers.

After successfully completing the four-day course, Andrew is looking to recruit more people to join a first responder group covering Kensworth, Whipsnade and his home village of Studham.

Andrew said: “I decided to become a community first responder after having been incredibly impressed with Steven Bennett and his volunteer colleagues from Leighton Buzzard when they explained to me what community first responders do. The training was of a very high standard and the other people on the course were a great bunch of people to be with.”

Steve Catley, Beds and Herts Community Partnership Manager for EEAST, said: “Congratulations to Andrew and our new volunteers for becoming community first responders. These CFRs will join our existing groups and help us to continue to provide a high standard of care to patients within their local community.”
