Betty Riches

Tributes have been paid this week to Betty Riches, a much-loved former colleague, who has sadly passed away aged 84.

Betty was well-known throughout the Norfolk ambulance service; as the senior manager in charge of operations there for many years, she was exceptionally knowledgeable and affectionately known as the service’s ‘mother hen’ until her retirement in the early 90s.

As well as her role in operations, Betty had a very active involvement in union activities and did much to develop the terms and conditions for ambulance staff that are still in place today.

Betty’s funeral is 12.45pm next Thursday (20^th August) at Earlham Crematorium in Norwich, should any colleagues wish to attend.
