Black Lives Matter – EEAST’s call for change

June was a particularly difficult month for many, but in particular, the BAME members of our EEAST family. Following the death of George Floyd, there has been worldwide protests and calls for change, with the Black Lives Matter movement leading on this important message.

Here at EEAST, with the full support of the Chief Executive, Dorothy Hosein, we will be looking at how we can raise awareness and help bring forward some much-needed change. Dorothy shared her thoughts on racism and equality within the Trust in an update video, which you can watch here.

Going forwards we will be publishing articles sharing resources and hearing from staff members about their own personal experiences, to aid our education around the issues surrounding the BAME community, including the Black Lives Matter community, and what we plan to do to make a difference.

We recently published a video from our Trust BME network, where members expressed their own thoughts and feelings on current events. We would encourage you to have open conversations with them and to show your support during such a challenging time.

If you would like to join the BME network please email Additional information about the network (such as the priorities of the network, next meeting dates etc) can be found on East24.
