Boost for Essex CFR group will make ‘difference to people’s lives’

Volunteer life-savers in Essex have received a boost after getting new equipment and training facilities.

Stanford and Corringham Community First Responders have been attending medical emergencies in their area for six years and have 16 qualified responders.

The group can now offer more life-saving training after Sigma Studies Limited donated four new resuscitation mannequins, which light up to indicate virtual blood flow.

Eight group members are qualified Heartstart instructors and the equipment will be used for ongoing training of the CFRs, and comes just in time for an event where they will aim to teach CPR to 900 schoolchildren.

Sue Wilsdon, co-ordinator of Stanford and Corringham CFRs, said the company had also offered its facilities in Orsett for group training:

“Sigma Studies were looking for a group to sponsor and I got in touch with the company on Facebook; they came back saying they were really interested in supporting us and they have been very, very generous. This has come at a really good time for us.

“This support will help us to continue to make a difference to people’s lives.”

Mark Hull, Chairman of Sigma Studies, added: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to support such a worthwhile cause. The invaluable work carried out by the Stanford and Corringham CFR volunteers is helping to save lives in our community and we are proud to be associated with them.”
