Break the silence and support mental health

EEAST RRVs and amb on scene

This year’s Time to Talk, a day dedicated to mental health awareness, returns on Thursday, 2nd February.

It is a day when everyone is encouraged to have a conversation about mental health and help break the silence.

Along with signing the Time to Change employer pledge last year, and as part of our commitment to change how we think and act about mental health problems, we will be supporting the day. We are encouraging people to make more effort to speak to each other; to say ‘hello’, and take time to ask ‘how are you?’ with real meaning, and with time to listen to the answer!

Conversations about mental health change lives. Lives such as Phil, who has worked at EEAST for 14 years:

Talking helps, please listen, we don't require solutions, just a listening, non-judgmental ear.”

Talking about mental health doesn’t need to be difficult. It can be as simple as making time to have a cup of tea or go for a walk, and listening to someone talk about how they feel.

We want everyone who works here to feel they can be open about their mental health, and ask for support if they need it. If you would like to talk about mental health or require any support, contact Debra, Suzy or Paul from the wellbeing team at wellbeing@eastamb.nhs.uk . Or you can phone on 01234 243092. Alternatively you can contact our Employee Assistance Programme on 0800 085 1376. It’s available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year and is a free and confidential support service.
