Bronze for CSD staff

Fiona Cox receiving bronze psiam award Oct 2014

Two members of emergency operations centre (EOC) staff have been awarded for their consistent high levels of quality assurance compliance.

Fiona and Sue have been given a bronze award for achieving 25 consecutive highly compliant audits as part of their work for the clinical support desk (CSD).

Steve, a Clinical Coordinator, said: “It gave me great pleasure and pride to award Fiona and Sue with their bronze Psiam awards last week. The award, instigated in April this year by the CSD audit team, recognises consistent and sustained high levels of quality assurance compliance. Fiona and Sue work as part of the regional team of clinical advisors who carry out telephone triage for low acuity 999 calls 24 hours a day and 365 days a year. The aim is always to identify the most appropriate outcome and pathway for each patient and the efforts of the whole team are also recognised.

“CSD activity not only ensures the most appropriate outcome for the individual patient but also impacts on the availability of ambulances for higher acuity patients. In the year to date (Apr – Aug), an average of more than 3,300 patients per month have been referred to alternative agencies, or discharged with self-care advice by the team, saving 16,842 ambulance journeys. Congratulations to Fiona and Sue on the award and well done to all of the CSD team for the fantastic patient focussed care that you provide.”
