Calling all carnival enthusiasts

Notting Hill Carnival

Have you ever wondered what it is like to be part of one of the biggest carnivals in the Country? Well, here is your opportunity!

London Ambulance Service has asked us to provide some support for the Notting Hill Carnival this year, and we would like to be able to assist our colleagues in green.

The carnival is being held over the August bank holiday weekend and there are a number of roles which are open for staff to volunteer for.

The event is run for two days but anyone wishing to be involved would need to commit to the full 3 days from Saturday 26th through to Monday 28th August. There will be a training session and briefing on the Saturday followed by the carnival on Sunday and Monday. Accommodation will be provided at a local hotel for three nights with a view to staff returning home on the Tuesday.

This is a fast paced event which can be challenging, and it is also an excellent opportunity to be part of a very large event in our Capital City.

All volunteers must be physically fit and prepared to be on their feet for many hours as a lot of the ambulance deployment is on foot.

For the clinical roles, please include your clinical grade and how long you have been qualified, unfortunately, due to the nature of the event, we cannot accept trainee clinical staff.


  • Paramedics and Associate Ambulance Practitioners/EMTs (qualified, not trainee) to crew with a LAS Paramedic/EMT – there are a number of different teams some will be on Ambulances and some will form part of a medical response team (MRT) or casualty retrieval team (CRT) which is deployed on foot. All those deploying on foot will be expected to carry kit in backpacks. 
  • HART staff – will be required to bring with them their HART specific PPE and will be deployed as a part of a team of 4, these will also be required to deploy on foot.   
  • Support staff – to assist with kit issues and logistics, these staff will be stationed at the deployment centre and may be required to move equipment around the event footprint.
