Calling all clinical staff! ATMIST presentation now available to view

Ambulance side shot

The use of ATMIST is the region wide standardised format for providing a handover and a pre-alert. It is supported and endorsed by JRCALC and embedded in our regional Trauma Care guidance for both in hospital and pre-hospital handovers.

Over the last 12 months audit was undertaken to better understand the use of ATMIST and where and how this process could be improved.

Please find a short presentation below, highlighting the use of ATMIST explaining the rational for each element and how important they are. It will also help to explain the process for delivering this in a consistent and replicable way.

Additionally, the presentation will help guide clinicians as to when a pre-alert should be provided. Ultimately, the anticipated message that you will take away from this is to ask yourself: “Does my patient need any immediate assessment or intervention on arrival at hospital?” If the answer is yes, you should be pre-alerting.
