CFR awarded for lifesaving work

Adrian Garnham CFR award Suffolk

A community first responder (CFR), who has been a Suffolk village’s only lifesaver for more than a year, has scooped a special 999 award.

Adrian Garnham collected a Local Hero award organised by Town 102FM in Ipswich for his commitment to the Stutton and Holbrook Group.

Adrian, 51, who helped start the group in 2012, took the opportunity to ask others if they could spare any time to help him saves lives.

Adrian lives in Stutton and was nominated by wife Shirley. He said: “I’m a bus driver with years of first aid training which I decided to put to good use by becoming a CFR. As soon as I get home from work I’m ready to go out to a 999 call and I receive about 20 calls each month. I do worry when I go away though because there’s no-one else and it would be nice to hand it over sometimes. It’s such a worthwhile cause and if there is anyone in the area who can spare any time at all, they could be saving a life.”
