Changes to childrens emergency departments at Barnet Hospital

From midday on Tuesday 14 April children and young people’s emergency department at Barnet Hospital will be temporarily diverted to other hospitals.

Local hospitals are working together to plan ahead and deliver the best possible care to all patients during the coronavirus outbreak.

The children and young people’s emergency department at Barnet Hospital will be temporarily diverted to other hospitals as follows:

  • North Middlesex University Hospital for London residents (North Middlesex University Hospital, Sterling Way, London, N18 1QX)
  • Watford General Hospital for Hertfordshire residents (Watford General Hospital, Vicarage Road, Watford, Herts, WD18 0HB)

In north central London, children and young people’s emergency services also continue to be available at:

  • Royal Free Hospital (Pond St, London, NW3 2QG)
  • Whittington Health NHS Trust (Magdala Ave, N19 5NF)
  • The children and young people’s emergency department at UCLH is closed.

From this date anyone aged under 18 needing care for an accident or an emergency should go to the emergency departments at the hospitals outlined above

If people urgently need medical help or advice, but it is not a life-threatening situation, or if they don’t know who to ring, they should check NHS 111 online. For more information about services at other hospitals please check their websites:

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation.
