Chelmsford shoppers receive free health checks

Mini health checks were given to more than 150 people by the ambulance service last week at High Chelmer Shopping Centre.

Paramedic Esther Shaw from Chelmsford, student paramedic Shelley Matthews from Basildon and Damien Sherman from the Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) in Great Notley gave free blood pressure checks to 165 shoppers last Thursday (10^th September).

Six members of the public at the EEAST event were also advised to make an appointment with their GP because of a higher than normal blood pressure.

The Trust’s patient and public involvement team (PPI) were also on hand to give out information leaflets on a range of different subjects such as community first responders (CFRs), recruitment, the Trust User Group and advice on using the ambulance service.

PPI Manager Victoria Boyce said: “The event went really well and we got a lot of good feedback about the ambulance service. It is important to hear what the public think so we can look to learn and improve from all the feedback we receive.”
