Clinical guidance for shortage of adrenaline 1:1,000 syringes

Clinical kit pic

There is a national shortage of pre-filled adrenaline 1:1,000 syringes. This is likely to continue for some months resulting in a need for the Trust to restock with ampoules.

These were previously replaced with the pre-filled syringe to reduce the risk of administration by a non-approved route, namely intravenously.

The full clinical update, available here and on East24, provides guidance of what to look out for before administering the drug.

If you require any further support, please discuss with your local management team. Also feel free to contact the area clinical lead team on or contact your local ACL directly.
