Clinical Update - Junior Epipen shortage

Cliinical Update Icon

Further to our internal bulletin (dated 4th October) a shortage of EpiPen and EpiPen Junior is subject to limited availability for the remainder of 2018.

A further update has been provided by the National Director of Patient Safety at NHS England. They are reminding parents that in an emergency situation (without an alternative emergency adrenaline supply) to administer out-of-date EpiPen Junior followed by calling 999.

It is recognised that the dose might not be as effective but it is still better to administer than not.

Further information about this can be found here:

A copy of the Clinical Update is available on East24.
