Copper theft at station

It’s been discovered this week that copper has been stolen from the gas pipes at one of our stations.

After a visit to Loughton by the estates team, who had received reports that the station had been particularly cold, the theft was discovered. After further investigation, it was found that in this case the thieves had thankfully turned the gas off before stealing the copper.

Staff are asked to be extra vigilant and be on the lookout for anything suspicious; if possible, please do a daily check of the building and look at the pipes regularly to make sure they are still intact.

If you notice an unexplained drop in temperature at your station, please report it to estates so it can be investigated quickly.
