The Chief Medical Officer today confirmed a further case of COVID-19 who is a resident of Hertfordshire and a paramedic with the East of England Ambulance Service (EEAST).

“Our first priority is protecting the public and staff. We are currently contacting everyone who has been in contact with the paramedic and they will be given health advice about symptoms and emergency contact details to use if they become unwell in the 14 days after they had contact with the confirmed case.  The risk to patients and staff is very low.

“We are very well prepared for incidents like this and the NHS and Public Health England are taking all necessary steps to manage the situation.

“We will not be commenting further on this in order to protect patient confidentiality. If you are approached by the media, please pass the contact details to our Communications Team immediately on 01763 268772 or the Out of Hours number 07500 121368

“If you have any concerns or questions, please contact your manager. There is also a wide range of information available on Need to Know and EAST24, including FAQ, links to national guidance from PHE.”
