Cultural Ambassador Programme

Cultural Ambassadors are a pioneering new role for champions of fairness at work.

What is a Cultural Ambassador?
It is a voluntary role established by the Royal College of Nursing in partnership with East of England Ambulance Service Trust.
You will be a member of investigation teams and panels considering disciplinary allegations against Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) staff. 

What is the aim?
The aim of the Cultural Ambassador is to help ensure fairness in how BAME staff are treated amid concerns they are disproportionately subject to disciplinary action.

Who can apply?
We are looking for staff from BAME heritage. 

What support and training is available?
You will be prepared for the role at during a four half days virtual training, with one of the days dedicated to role play in November as follows: 

20 Nov 12.30 – 15.30
23 Nov 12.30 – 15.30
24 Nov 12.30 – 15.30
30 Nov 13.00 – 16.00

The training will increase your knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and topics, including the Equalities Act, cultural intelligence, unconscious bias and influencing skills. You will be supported by mentorship throughout your journey.

In the first instance email please email Cultural.Ambassadors@eastamb.nhs.uk and request for an expression of interest form, for you to complete and approved by your line manager.
Places are limited and selection will be on a first come basis.

The closing date for enrolment is 15th October 2020.
