Datix – New Feature!

Document Upload will become available on incident submission forms from Monday 18th February 2019.

One of the main benefits of the Datix system is that it allows you to upload documents relating to an incident and save them within the record. This allows those with access to a specific record, access to any additional documentation without that documentation having to be sent manually. As the relating documents are uploaded and stored electronically there is less of a chance of data going missing or getting lost.

To attach a document, please answer the question ‘Are there any documents to be attached to this record as ‘Yes’. Once this is selected you will see the following section appear on the screen:

Select the type of document from the ‘Link as’ field. Please note – If you select the ‘Secure Doc’ option, the document will only be viewable to the patient safety team during the investigation process.

Please write a brief description of what the document is about in the ‘Description’ field. Then select ‘Attach this file’. Click ‘Browse’ and then find the document to upload. The document should be saved on your computer. Once this is done you will see the location of the document appear in the ‘Attach this file’ field.

You can upload more than one document when submitting an incident report to the Datix system. Please click ‘Add another’ and repeat the above process to attach another document:

If you have uploaded a document by mistake and wish to start again, please click on Clear Section:

This will clear the uploaded document from the form:

Once you are happy to proceed, click on ‘Submit’. The document will then be linked and accessible to all with access to the record (unless it has been linked as a ‘Secure Doc’ as described above). Please note – submitting an incident to the Datix system with documents attached may take more time to submit the record than a record without documents attached.
