Death of Essex Senior EMT

Emma Nichols

The Trust is sad to announce the death of North East Essex Senior Emergency Medical Technician Emma Nichols.

Emma, 49 from Harwich, had been valiantly and stubbornly fighting a short-term illness as those who knew her would expect. Sadly, she succumbed to her illness and died peacefully in a London Hospital in the arms of her partner on Friday, 19th January.

Adrian Maasz, Senior Locality Manager for North East Essex, said “Emma was transferred from Colchester to London by two of her colleagues, en route she insisted they stop at her favourite bagel shop. Emma joined the ambulance service in 2002. Her colleagues described her as a no nonsense and naturally instinctive EMT. The type of crew mate any of us would want by our side. She will be missed both professionally and personally by her colleagues and friends in North Essex”.
