Decontamination and HART at the top of resilience agenda

The National Ambulance Resilience Unit (NARU) is developing new research to support patient facing staff and our hazardous area response team (HART).

The unit, which works with ambulance trusts to strengthen resilience and looks at care in challenging pre-hospital environments, is working on new standard operating procedures for HART, as well as a new set of chemical, biological, radioactive and nuclear (CBRN) joint operating principles on behalf of the three blue light services. On top of that, the first phase of a scientific research programme led by NARU into decontamination processes is now also complete.
