Digital radio/Airwave terminal refresh

Changing your radio talk group

We’re about to run the bi-annual radio audit of Airwave terminals, meaning an Airwave engineer will look at each and every one of our fleet, including resilience, helicopters,  fixed radio units and PTS that have been installed with digital radio to date.

The plan is to adopt a similar strategy to previous programmes, whereby to get the vehicles available will involve liaison between the AOC, LOM and AFA teams. Airwave engineers will be visiting sites to complete the refresh and it is estimated that each vehicle will take up to 60 minutes to complete the work.

The current plan is to start work with our three engineers w/c 26th November and to be posted to Longwater, Chelmsford and Peterborough, and the programme will break on the 21st December and recommence on the 2nd January. Graham Turner is the AOC lead for the region and will liaise daily with all parties who need to be involved to ensure the smooth progression and that all the assets are captured as engineers move around.

Please note the basic functionality of the radio remains unchanged however the phonebook has been updated as well as the relevant talk-group changes.  There is no requirement at this audit to visit Officer/lease car cradles.

Thanks for your support to get this crucial work completed.  Any questions please contact Graham Turner and Mark Collins.
