Dispatcher to tackle gruelling obstacle course for air ambulance charity

One of our Norfolk dispatchers is set to take on the Only The Brave obstacle course this weekend for a charity close to her heart.

Sarah Aitchison who works in our Norwich EOC is taking on the daunting challenge to raise money for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA) on Saturday (1st April) for a special reason.

“The charity is extremely close to my heart, if it hadn’t been for them we would have lost my niece when she was born.”

“I am both nervous and excited, it will be the biggest challenge that I have faced and something which I wouldn’t have dreamed doing seven months ago. I’ve never done something like this before.”

Sarah initially first heard about it after it was advertised on the radio, and decided she would sign up once she hit her weight loss target of six stone, which she achieved on Christmas Eve.

She has come a long way since she signed up to Slimming World in August 2016, with training for Only The Brave in full swing. She said: “Back then I couldn’t walk more than 100ft without becoming breathless, now a five mile walk is a regular occurrence, as well as some jogging.”

The gruelling challenge is either a five or 10 mile mud run with more than 40 obstacles, participants will be running, crawling, climbing, and scrambling their way to the finish line.

If you want to help Sarah reach her target of £1,000, you can donate here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Sarahlou83?utm_id=25
