Do you know about our social media policy?

The Trust has a detailed policy that covers what you can do when it comes to social media, both in and out of work.

The policy is there to ensure you’re aware of how to use social media to its fullest advantage, i.e. promoting, sharing, and networking, but also to protect yourself, colleagues, patients and others in the digital domain.

We’d recommend everyone takes a quick look at the Use of Digital Media including Social Media and or Networking Sites Policy. In the meantime, below is a reminder of some tips you can follow:

  • Keep communications courteous and avoid posts that identify someone, even in an implied way
  • Refrain from comments that can be interpreted as slurs, inflammatory, or have a questionable provenance (i.e. you’re presenting as fact without 100% assurance)
  • What you write is ultimately your responsibility, so be aware that you are legally liable for anything you write or present online
  • Respect copyrights
  • Avoid posting personal information, opinions, photos or videos that you wouldn’t be happy for your colleagues or the public to see.

We have an active presence on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Wordpress and Flickr to help us reach different audiences with different methods of messaging, and we always invite staff to help us engage with and educate others via these channels. There are a huge number of benefits to using social media – if you want to know more or get involved please get in touch at communications@eastamb.nhs.uk
