Do you know how to #SpeakUpToMe?

People can sometimes find it difficult to speak up about issues. They may not know who to speak to. They may feel that anything they do raise will not be taken seriously and nothing will be done as a result.

We want to make sure this is never the case at EEAST.

October is Speak Up Month and we’re supporting our Freedom to Speak Up Guardians in raising awareness of their role within the Trust and helping them to break down barriers and remove obstacles that prevent or dissuade staff and volunteers from speaking up.

You can join us in promoting Speak Up month by adding the #SpeakUpToMe banner to your email signature.

The initiative is led within the Trust by Dr Tom Davis, Medical Director. We have two Freedom to Speak Up Guardians within the Trust, Simon Chase and Anna Price, who are impartial and independent in their role.

Dorothy Hosein, Interim Chief Executive said: “It’s extremely important to the Trust that our staff and volunteers feel comfortable to come forward with any concerns they have and our Freedom to Speak Up Guardians play an incredibly important role in helping us to provide an open and supportive environment.

“We are proud to be supporting Speak Up Month this October and welcome the opportunity to raise awareness of the essential ‘Freedom to Speak Up’ initiative.”

Anna and Simon will also be visiting different locations around the region this month to encourage staff to come forward and speak up:

Bedford – Tuesday 15th October

Norwich – Friday 18th October

Chelmsford – Wednesday 30th October

Melbourn HQ - Thursday 31st October

More information about the Freedom to Speak Up initiative and our Guardians can be found on East24 here.
