Do you know the correct manual handling process?

Helping to lift or move someone can be an incredibly vulnerable experience for our patients.

While manual handling isn’t the most exciting topic to discuss, it can be one of the most important moments we have with patients, so it’s vital we’re aware of the correct manual handling processes.

There have been several incidents recently of patients injured while being moved, so we’d ask staff to think about how they move patients. If you’re unsure, speak to your manager about making sure you’re following the right steps.

The link to the manual handling policy can be found here.

Work is ongoing in the Trust to look at manual handling training and review if anything needs to be adapted, so we can provide the best care possible for patients.
