Does a patient have an infection that affects how we separate waste?

Blurred ambulance

As many of you will know, the way we dispose and manage clinical waste is changing soon.

The change to the system will mean new waste bags for all vehicles, bringing us in line with national guidelines and best practice.

The team are in the process of developing the new system, and want to help you understand what to do when it comes to separating clinical waste.

Following on from last week’s Need to Know article, this week we are looking at how an infection affects how we separate waste.

We’ve put together another guidance sheet to help, which can be printed and displayed on stations.

If you have any queries about the guidance sheet, please contact the team by emailing waste@eastamb.nhs.uk. Any queries regarding separating clinical waste and what should be disposed of where will be answered in the next week.
