ECA progression update

If you have passed the pre-entry exam for the emergency care assistant (ECA) to technician course, you will be told if you have been allocated to a course in 2015/16 by 29^th August.

Allocations have been decided by operational managers and you will receive an email from the Training and Education Manager. Those who do not receive an email will remain in the pool for future allocations. 

Another round of pre-entry exams will be held in the autumn for all ECAs who could not apply the first time round or were unsuccessful. These will be held on a number of dates across the region and further information will be circulated via Need to Know nearer the time.

The third ECA to technician course began on Monday (30^th June), with a group of 12 taking to the classroom at Luton station.

Chief Executive Anthony Marsh said: “Training and developing staff is an absolute priority. Giving our staff more skills will mean that we can deliver even better care to patients. Our staff do a fantastic job, often in very challenging circumstances, and I want to give them as much support as possible.”

The first ECAs to have completed courses in Melbourn and Stansted are now working on ambulances in their new roles.
