EEAST award ceremony celebrates amazing staff

The music has long since died down and the tables, chairs and buffet all cleared away – but the fantastic memories of the latest Trust awards are still very much alive 24 hours later.

A remarkable number of our fantastic staff and volunteers were honoured in this year’s long service, graduation and celebration ceremony held at Imperial War Museum Duxford, Cambridgeshire, yesterday (6^th October). 

Hundreds of people from the region’s six counties got together to celebrate remarkable careers and outstanding contributions which have a very real impact on patient care. Special guests also included patients who had survived life-threatening incidents, the Vice Lord Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire Jane Lewin-Smith, and emergency service and NHS colleagues.

Chief Executive, Robert Morton opened by saying that "together we strive for excellence in patient care and clinical practice, professionalism in customer service”, adding: “Irrespective of the category of celebration, they should be equally proud of themselves as we all are of them.”

Robert, paid tribute to staff, volunteers and their families: “We are extremely proud of you and what you do for your community every day. I thank you sincerely for everything you do, despite the challenges we face every day.”

“Thank you to everyone who made nominations for CEO commendations and special awards; the quality made the judging by our directors very difficult, and my congratulations go to all those shortlisted for those awards. It was a night to remember, celebrating some truly inspirational individuals and teams who make such a lot of difference to people.”

We’d like to thank everyone who was able to make the ceremony from far and wide. Finally, a special thank you from the awards organisers; the support and help from a number of colleagues, not just on the night but in the run-up, was invaluable. Thank you to Rod Taylor, Terry Moore and Rob Isherwood for their help in providing vehicles for the ceremony room - the Duchess and the Vito provided a fantastic backdrop for the event!
