EEAST call handlers shortlisted for national award

It’s that time of year again where the International Academy of Emergency Dispatch (IAED) awards one call handler in the UK with the prestigious title of Dispatcher of the Year.

The award was created to identify and recognise individuals who have made the most significant contributions to further values and mission of the academy through personal action.

Throughout the year, EEAST’s audit and training department receive nominations for calls whereby the call handler was deemed to have shown excellence in call handling.

This year the team received 20 calls, which they then narrowed down to seven. These seven calls were sent to the academy, who would have received them alongside nominations from other ambulance services throughout the country.

Here at EEAST we’re delighted to hear that not just one, but three call handlers have been shortlisted. Emma Farkas from Chelmsford EOC, Liam Harcourt from Norwich EOC and Jaymie-Lee Morgan from Bedford EOC will now attend the IAED UK Navigator conference in Cardiff on 20th September along with other national finalists, where the overall winner will be announced.

Chief Executive Robert Morton said: “Congratulations to Emma, Liam and Jaymie-Lee for being shortlisted for this prestigious award. It is truly impressive given the enormity of the challenges you face daily. EOC is at the heart of our organisation and its success is fundamental to everything we do for our patients.”

Good luck Emma, Liam and Jaymie-Lee!
