EEAST welcomes new Safeguarding Specialist

Beverley McWilliams

The Trust welcomes Beverley McWilliams, our new multi-agency Safeguarding Specialist/Social Worker, who joined us at the end of October 2019:

My name is Beverley McWilliams and on 30th October 2019, I commenced my employment with EEAST, in the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) team. I am employed with the Trust as a multi-agency Safeguarding Specialist/Social Worker. I work alongside Mercedes MacFarlane (Social Worker) and we will soon be joined by another Social Worker this December.

I am a qualified Social Worker and Practice Educator, with experience of working in children and family services; in initial assessment, M.A.SH (Multi Agency Support Hub) and Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children and Safeguarding teams. I have also worked in a number of Local Authorities, some of which include: Luton Borough Council, Central Bedfordshire, Bedford Borough Council, Northamptonshire County Council and Cambridgeshire County Council.

My role within SPOC will be to support colleagues to review the referrals that are made to our partner agencies, support safeguarding decisions for children and to explore community support services for children and their families. This also includes working with colleagues across EEAST.

I have already had a warm welcome, positive support and feedback from colleagues that I have met within EEAST.

I am excited about my role and look forward to working with you soon.

Best wishes,

Beverley
