End of an era for Chelmsford station

Last week (29th November) the team at Chelmsford station moved to its brand new home on Chelmer Valley Road.

Sandra Chick, Senior Locality Manager for mid Essex, said: “I am very excited to see the result of this project and the station move to a new site. The new station is significantly bigger than our previous site and has the capacity to deliver make ready and staff training.

“My thanks to estates, IT, the local management team and staff for their work in making this happen. This is a really positive move for staff in mid Essex.”

The Coval Lane site has been the home for the operations team since 1956 and in the early days was the control room for the then Essex Ambulance Service.

The official opening of the new site will be scheduled in 2017. The supplies department for Essex will be moving in the short term to Dunstable, until the new store at Letchworth is completed in the New Year.

Chelmsford crews – enjoy your new home!
