Expression of interests for Patient Safety Intervention team (PSIT)

Blurred ambulance

A number of small teams are being introduced across the Trust to help support extended delays at our receiving acute hospitals. The plan is to have five teams, each operating as a separate unit, seven days a week.

Each team of three staff will consist of:

  • A team leader role (band 7)
  • a Trust paramedic
  • and either an EMT, AAP or IAP (In some areas this will be supplemented by an agency ECA).

We are seeking expressions of interest from experienced supervisors, DLOs, or HALOs that may wish to be considered for the band 7 role within these teams. We are also happy to consider staff that have previously acted into the above roles.

As this team will operate across seven days, the role will attract unsocial payments of 25 per cent. An early indication of a rota pattern is that it might look like a four-on-four-off type rota, operating between midday to midnight, or 2pm to 2am. This will start from 4th December through until 31st March, 2018.

The teams will be located as follows:

  • 1 x Trust PSIT – Norfolk/Suffolk – Based at Longwater depot.  Nine staff needed.
  • 1 x Trust PSIT – Cambridgeshire /Bedfordshire – Base TBC but proposed Peterborough. Nine staff needed
  • 1 x Trust PSIT – Hertfordshire – Based at TBC. Nine staff needed
  • 2 x PAS Jumbulances – Location Essex; six staff needed per team (supported by agency ECA who will maintain and operate the Jumbulance)

There is a quick turnaround for these roles, as we hope to commence operations the w/c 4th December. A short training package will be available for the successful candidates, probably on Friday 1st December at a central Trust location.

Staff interested in joining these teams should apply to Sector Head, Terry Hicks identifying how they see the PSIT supporting the delivery of safe and effective patient care.

Closing date for applications is Thursday, 23rd November, with a possible telephone discussion in the following week.  Please ensure that your SLM is aware of your application.
