Fire alarms and staff safety

Transparent EEAST crest

Please make sure that, if the fire alarm goes off in your station or office, you follow the correct procedures and evacuate the building. Although it may turn out to be a false alarm, it’s vitally important for your own safety that you treat it as real until told otherwise.

This advice may seem simple, but we’ve been notified of cases where the fire alarm has gone off at Trust sites and staff have remained in the building.

If you’re an evacuation warden, you must make sure that you:

- remind staff to evacuate the building safely via the nearest fire escape

- ask staff to congregate in the relevant assembly area

- ensure the building is clear after everyone has left.

If you have any questions, please contact our Health, Safety and Security Manager Danny Daniels at danny.daniels@eastamb.nhs.uk.
