First joint court injunction for frequent caller patient

Bedford EOC 1

Whether you work out in the community or in one of our EOC’s, you will have come in to contact with some of the Trusts frequent callers.

Currently the clinical coordinator team manages our frequent callers and their management plans. Currently we have 339 frequent callers with these plans in place being managed. Over the course of three years, the clinical coordinator team have been working alongside Cambridgeshire Police in one specific case, which has resulted in a court injunction.

The work has also seen the introduction of a signed multi-agency nine point plan, which provides a specific plan on how particular patients are managed alongside and with the support of other agencies. Through this hard work, there has been a drop in 999 calls from some frequent callers, but more noticeably less resources attending the patient’s address as these patient are triaged through the ECAT, which ultimately has had a positive impact regionally.

Sandra Treacher EOC Clinical Lead said: “This has been no simple task and has been a long time coming, the processes in place would not be possible without our team of clinical coordinators and ECAT who deal with the 999 calls on a day to day basis”.

It is hoped that the work previously done can be applied to other situations in the future, so please remember to escalate any concerns you have regarding any patient’s you encounter that this may also apply to, to eoeasnt.EOE-FrequentCallers@nhs.net.
