Fleet update

Fleet

Another nine of the new additional ambulances have been delivered this week to the following stations:

  • Corringham
  • Thurrock
  • Welwyn Garden City
  • Leighton Buzzard
  • Letchworth
  • Luton
  • Stevenage
  • Hemel Hempstead
  • Watford

The final ambulance will be delivered to Kempston early next week, meaning all 27 new additional ambulances will have been supplied to boost the fleet across the region.

The Trust’s media team publicised the news of the ongoing fleet improvement programme last week and the story was run by several local newspapers, with interviews taking place with BBC Norfolk, BBC Essex, and Heart FM. On Friday, BBC Look East also ran a positive feature piece on the replacement ambulances and staff morale.

Your feedback is still welcomed on the van-converted ambulance trial, which ended on Friday (February 28) via the paper versions of the survey at stations or online via SurveyMonkey. Please send all paper versions to Paul Henry, care of the Norwich office, by the close of play on Tuesday (March 11).

We will be trialling two Mercedes Benz 4x4 van converted ambulances when they come off the production line in April and as soon as the dates and locations for these are agreed, they will be published in Need to Know.

We are also on target with the delivery programme of the new response Skoda Scout cars, as advertised in Need to Know a few weeks ago. Eight cars have been issued to date and four will be issued this week to Watford, Shefford, Biggleswade and Letchworth.
