Flu jab programme up and running

Side of RRV with lozenge

Influenza, or flu, is a highly transmissible and serious infection. Last year, 1,184 people in the UK were admitted to intensive care because of it, and more than 10% of those people lost their lives.

You can infect patients, your family, your friends and your colleagues even if you only have mild symptoms yourself, or sometimes if you have no symptoms at all (around 30% of flu infections are asymptomatic in certain people). And working in healthcare, we’re more likely to be exposed to the virus than the general public, with up to one in every four of us estimated to catch flu this season.

So what can you do about it? Working for the ambulance service, you’re entitled to have a free flu jab regardless of your role. So take the opportunity and have yours today – flu clinics are now up and running across the region. Find your nearest one on East24.
