FOIs and subject access requests – what you need to know

Ambulance line up blue sky

Our information governance team has issued advice to colleagues to explain more about what to do if they are asked for information as part of a subject access request (SAR) or freedom of information (FOI) request.

The team has put together two manager briefings, which are available through the links below.

The first explains our legal duties to respond to FOIs, including the timescales for replying and criteria for withholding information.

The second gives more detail about subject access requests, which entitle people to a copy of personal information which we are storing or processing. We must respond to these requests within one month of receiving them.

For further information about responding to FOIs or SARs, contact Fiona Lennox, Information Governance Manager, on 07922 420565 or by emailing fiona.lennox@eastamb.nhs.uk.
