A reminder of fundraising guidance

During the COVID-19 pandemic, some of our staff have been keen to raise money for charity or to support wellbeing initiatives taking place at local stations or within the community.

Although these goodwill gestures reflect the kindness and compassion of colleagues across the Trust, it is important to stress that staff should not actively be seeking donations from patients.
This is because any fundraising which is carried out needs to follow Charity Commission guidance to make sure it complies with the law, while it would also be inappropriate to ask patients for donations. 

Anyone who is setting up an online fundraising page, such as JustGiving, should make sure they clearly outline the reason they are raising money.
Staff are only able to use EEAST branding if the money raised is in line with our values and will be deposited to our charity account so that it can be spent on Trust initiatives, such as schemes which benefit wellbeing.
It is also important in these cases that we do not accept funds from existing or potential suppliers, or in exchange for any goods or services, including advertising.

Some of our staff are also raising funds to support external charities or causes, such as Families In Need. If this is the case, EEAST branding cannot be used. Individual fundraisers must also make sure they are complying with all charity laws.
