Funeral arrangements for much-loved Gary Lacey

Transparent EEAST crest

Earlier this month we shared news of the sad loss of Gary Lacey, our colleague and friend.

Gary, who joined the Trust in 2009, was an emergency care assistant from Bury St. Edmunds.

Gary’s funeral is taking place at 1pm on Monday 5th June at St Edmunds King & Martyr Catholic Church, West Gate Street, Bury St Edmunds IP33 1QG. (Parking is limited in the town centre. Closest pay and display: Ram Meadow on East Gate Street or Arc/Cattle Market on Parkway).

The Church service will be followed by a service at West Suffolk Crematorium (Risby, IP28 6RR) at 3pm

If you plan to attend, please wear either operational or dress uniform.

All uniformed staff are invited to join Gary’s Guard of Honour. Please be in position outside the Church no later than 12.30am, when instructions for the guard will be shared with you. In lieu of flowers, Gary’s family are asking colleagues to donate to Addenbrookes Ward D9.

Paul Goodchild, Interim Senior Locality Manager, said: “Gary was a very popular member of staff, he will be greatly missed. Since being diagnosed with his illness Gary’s determination and courage to return to the job he loved has been an inspiration to us all. Our thanks to all our colleagues who have offered to cover shifts so that those who wish to attend may do so. Your help is greatly appreciated.”

If anyone is having difficulty in making arrangements to be there, please approach your local management team who will do their best to help.
