HCPC fees consultation

The Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) has launched a consultation on proposals to increase its registration fees this year.

In the consultation, which closes on 6th May, the council is proposing an increase from £80 to £90 per year, with effect from 1st August.

The HCPC said: “This increase is because the Government has decided that the Professional Standards Authority will be funded by the regulators’ it oversees and the fees charged will be calculated by registrant numbers. HCPC is compelled to review our fee levels in order to be able to fund this substantial increase to our costs.

“The remainder of the increase is needed to ensure that we continue to perform as an effective and efficient regulator through investment in IT systems, introducing dedicated quality control systems and managing fitness to practise processes. The Council is also proposing a similar level of increases to the other fees it charges.”

The HCPC is asking for your views via an online survey or you can email them at consultation@hcpc-uk.org or write to them:

Chief Executive Anthony Marsh said: “We will be responding to the consultation and raising concern at the scale of the increase, which is substantial and something we cannot support.”

The full consultation document is available on the HCPC website. Unison has published a statement in relation to the consultation and is seeking your views on these changes; to find out more visit the Unison website.
