IMPORTANT REMINDER: Covid-19 and the reuse of NIBP cuffs

We are seeing a large number of NIBP cuffs being disposed of following use on a suspected Covid-19 patient.

The NIBP cuffs supplied to the Trust are designed to be reusable.

Following confirmation from the Head of Infection, Prevention and Control, these are suitable for wiping down with Clinell wipes / Trust-approved cleaning agents.

Currently, all medical devices and ancillary items are in extremely short supply. It is becoming more challenging to obtain large quantities of items.

If we fail to  look after our medical equipment there is a genuine risk that medical devices, such as the Corpuls, will be stocked insufficiently for front line use. We could potentially be in a position where we would be unable to attend a patient.
