Inspiring clinicians of the future

Dozens of students have learnt to save a life after an insight into the work of the ambulance service.

More than 100 West Suffolk College students learnt how to perform CPR and use a defibrillator on Tuesday (27^th September).

Staff and volunteers were on hand to teach life-saving skills, as well as talk about career opportunities with the Trust.

Students from the College’s health and social care, public services, sport and health and early years’ courses took part.

Members of the Trust user group (TUG) and patient and public involvement (PPI) team also attended the event in Bury St Edmunds to talk about how students could get involved in a youth forum to ensure their voices are heard by the service.

Sotu Marshall-Wyer, PPI Manager, said: “This is the first time we have held an engagement event like this and it was great to teach the students CPR and talk to them about the different career pathways open to them.

“Hopefully, this will have inspired them to become the ambulance clinicians of the future.”
