International Women's Day

National Womens day web

As you may have seen in the news, yesterday was International Women's Day.

This special day celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

We also have good cause to celebrate, as we have many amazing women working for us as members of staff or volunteers - which is something we should be very proud of. Having said that, we recognise that we simply do not have enough senior female leaders in our Trust, or indeed across the ambulance sector, and we must do more to address this. Therefore our new leadership strategy, which will be launched shortly, will outline how we can support more women into leadership roles.

I am also bringing together a special interest group for women within the Trust to explore in more depth the issues women face at work, and what we can do to break down barriers and improve female representation in senior roles.

If you would like to be involved in this group please email me at lindsey.stafford-scott@eastamb.nhs.uk. Initially we are only looking for females to be on this group and we will consider expanding it once the group is established.
