Invitation to EHAAT clinical governance day

Essex and Herts air ambulance

The Essex and Herts Air Ambulance Trust (EHAAT) will be holding its monthly clinical day on Tuesday 19th July, and all Trust staff are welcome along.

The event is taking place at the North Weald airbase in west Essex, and this month will be totally dedicated to haemorrhage control, and will include talks on thoracotomy, tourniquets, and some real-life case studies of patients that the EHAAT team have attended.

  • 10am: Welcome and introduction, Dr Flora Bird, Doctor
  • 10.15am: ‘Blood, bleeding and haemorrhage control’, Phil Almond, CCP
  • 10.45am: Longitudinal audit – ‘Blunt trauma thoracotomy’, Dr Flora Bird, Doctor; audited by Erica Ley, CCP
  • 11.30am: Coffee break
  • 11.45am: Flumazanil and Therapeutic hypothermia in cardiac arrest, Astrid Perto and Mads Damgaard, Aarhus University, Denmark
  • 12.15pm: Trauma haemorrhage research, Mr Lewis Gall, Trauma Research Fellow at Barts Health NHS Trust
  • 1pm: The abdominal aortic tourniquet, Andrew Saunders, Business Development Manager, Fenton Pharmaceuticals
  • 1.15pm: Lunch, kindly sponsored by Fenton Pharmaceuticals
  • 1.45pm: Longitudinal audit – ‘Lorry vs lorry RTC, code red’, Gaynor Wareham, CCP and Dr Mike Christian, Doctor; audited by Adam Carr, CCP
  • 2.30pm: Coffee
  • 2.45pm: ‘The future of haemorrhage control’, Tony Stone, Simon Probert, Lou Rosson and Nathan Cusack, CCPs.
  • 3.45pm: - Round up and close
