Is it getting hot in here?

Ambulance side shot

The Trust is taking part in an Association of Ambulance Chief Executives temperature mapping project to ensure medicines are being kept at the correct temperatures in emergency vehicles.

From 1st June, temperature loggers will be placed on 59 ambulances and rapid response vehicles at different stations across the region. They will be labelled ‘medicine temperature trial’ and placed near the drug bag on the vehicles.

The data will be taken every three months and will only measure the temperature at 30 minute intervals – it will not record anything else, e.g. location.

There has been limited work to understand the exposure of medicines to extremes of temperature in the pre-hospital setting so the aim of this project is to assess the risk to medicines stored on vehicles.

The project will run for 12 months and for more information, please read the project plan
