IT Security Update

upgrade

IM&T are continually reviewing security practises to ensure the Data and Devices used by the Trust are secure and have minimal exposure to security threats

To enhance our security measures and to further to minimise the threat of our hardware or data being compromised, IM&T will be implementing the following three policies with immediate effect:

1. Account Security

Due to the threat of people who have left the Trust not having had their login details disabled, if an account is not accessed for 30 days, the account will be disabled.

To ensure this does not affect you, please ensure you are regularly logging in to a Trust device or using the Microsoft Office Home service so that your account is not flagged to be removed. Please ensure whenever someone leaves the Trust, you let us know by completing the Leaver Request on the Service Desk Portal.

2. Windows 7 Devices (Excluding CAD PC’s used in AOC)

All Windows 7 Devices will be disabled from the network on Wednesday 24th March. If you are a regular user of a Windows 7 device, you will have been contacted and asked to attend a main site for a replacement. If you have not responded, your Windows 7 device will no longer be allowed to connect to the network from Wednesday.

3. Unused Windows Devices (Excluding CAD PC’s used in AOC)

All Windows devices which have not been logged into for 60 days or more will be disabled from the network on Wednesday 24th March and monthly from that date. If you attempt to log in to a device which has not been on the network for 60 days or more, this will not be possible and you will need to bring the device back to IT to be re-built to ensure it has the appropriate security updates.

If you are affected by any of the above security enhancements, please contact the IT Service Desk;
