It’s Pride time: celebrate this summer!

Thousands of people will take part in Pride events across the country over the next three months to celebrate the LGBT community - so let's help EEAST get represented.

A host of events in our region and beyond will help shine a light on equal rights and are an opportunity to remember the long struggle in the past to get to this position. The EEAST LGBT+ Network is promoting several Pride events and would like to invite staff and volunteers to support the LGBT community and, wherever possible, represent the ambulance service and promote the value of equal opportunities.

The Trust will join other ambulance services taking part in the processions - we plan to run a stall at events in Essex Pride (this Saturday) and Norwich Pride, demonstrating first aid and promoting community first responders. All events also present the opportunity to interact with the public and talk to them about the service we provide.

Benjamin Mudd, Emergency Medical Technician and EEAST’s LGBT Network Chair, said: "Our colleagues have been amazing at ensuring we’ve been well represented at events in our region, and London and Brighton, for some years now and we’d like to make 2018 the biggest year yet. You do not have to identify as gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender – this is about supporting colleagues and communities who do, and playing a part in the neighbourhoods we live and work in."
