John heads to Harvard for the Leadership Academy

John Martin, interim Director of Patient Safety and Clinical Standards, is moving State-side this month after gaining a place on a prestigious leadership scheme.

John, who joined the service in 2001 as a technician, is starting his course at Harvard University in Massachusetts on Monday (2nd June) for a month as part of the NHS Leadership Academy.

The programme has just 50 places and aims to develop talented individuals who have the potential to become future leaders in the NHS. The placement is then followed up with a nine-month term as a senior leader within an NHS trust in England, which John will be spending at Addenbrookes Hospital in Cambridge.

Chief Executive Dr Anthony Marsh said: “I know you will join me in congratulating John for this excellent achievement. It bodes extremely well that a future leader of the NHS will have the ambulance service so close to heart.”

Details of who will be taking up John’s director role will be shared with staff via Need to Know.
